Why blurring sensitive information is a bad idea

Why blurring sensitive information is a bad idea – dheera.net: Dheera Venkatraman’s web site.

I have wondered why things are blurred instead of just colored black, and the only reason I have come up with is that blurring looks better, especially if applied to a face, but when it comes to blurring out an account number that is just stupid. In that case it looks the same no matter what method is used.

Core strength

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

I’ve identified the core strength, i.e. stomach and back, as my weakest part, so with a bit of inspiration from crimp.se I have decided to work on that. Today at lunch was the first session and now I have a good nice ache from my belly.

Strong again

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

The last two training sessions I’ve felt weak, my fingers have had an odd sensation of sore muscles. Not pain in any way but kind of what your legs feel like after a hard session of intervall training in the hills. On top of that Monday evening the rest of my body felt totally weak as well, couldn’t pull on any hold and generally didn’t get anywhere.

Yesterday I took a rest day and today was like comparing night and day. A total change. I felt incredibly strong and spent around three hours in the gym climbing mostly 7- to 7+ graded routes. It felt amazing.

A valuable lesson from this is to listen to your body. If you feel all weak and worn out it might be a good idea to rest for a bit, and let the body recover.

Teppanyaki

Teppanyaki

The photo isn’t from Ayakos Sushi but from another teppanyaki restaurant taken by Vanessa Pike-Russell but you get the idea.

Yesterday we ate Teppanyaki at Ayakos Sushi in Uppsala. Teppanyaki means that the chef prepares the food in front of where you’re sitting. We got to sit at a U-shaped stone-metal steak board and while we were sipping on our miso soup and wine the chef first prepared vegetables for starters and after that salmon teriyaki and deer for the main course. I had ordered the salmon and Camilla the deer.

It was very interesting to see how he cooked the food and while he was doing it he explained what he did and what ingredients he used. My salmon was quickly grilled and flambéd (or whatever it’s called in English) to give the surface some structure but the inside was left at medium and quite sushi like.

The taste was extraordinary. At first I wondered how I would be able to eat the two gigantic pieces of salmon with just sticks but the meat was cooked so perfect it easily came apart.

If you want to eat good japanese food in Uppsala I wholeheartedly recommend Ayakos Sushi.
