And it’s back

Saturday, October 22nd, 2005

Sorry for the unreliable service this week. I’ve switched over to being self hosted from my closet by a mac mini I picked up in the beginning of the week. Unfortunately after I did the dns switch over I ended up with a huge pile of work on my desk at work, so with the long days and other commitments I didn’t really have time to finish up all the loose ends.

Today I finally managed to import my exported wordpress database without messing up the character sets too much. Just that little task proved quite difficult when I noticed I couldn’t use mysqldump anymore on my previous host. But in the end I managed to get the data over and fixed all the problems I’ve noticed.

I already notice a huge speed increase but that’s naturally because I’m on the same local network as the web server, but hopefully the site is faster for you others as well.

Aftonbladet om alkohol i bröstmjölken

Monday, October 17th, 2005

Att Seven up light innehåller alkohol?

Footo:puzzle updated

Wednesday, October 12th, 2005

I have now made a workaround for Internet Explorer’s broken inline image support, so now footo:puzzle should work fine in most browsers. Go play it and let me know if it’s not working in your favourite web browser.

Headache

Tuesday, October 11th, 2005

Since Sunday afternoon I’ve almost had a constant pounding headache. It could be because of exhaustion from 25manna, a big orienteering competition that took place outside of Stockholm last weekend, where I ran the last leg of the relay. Or the headache could be from standing in oil fumes from the newly oiled floors at work. Or maybe it’s a combination. Pretty annoying to have a head that feels like it’s about to explode though.

Musik i oktober

Monday, October 3rd, 2005

Puuh

Busy day at work and a busy evening at home. When am I supposed to rest? I wish it was weekend again ;)

Nah, it hasn’t been that bad, I just stayed at work a bit too long so it was pretty late when I got home. And then the cats had decided to puke a second time on my bed, so I finally had to do something about that. They are such a sweethearts at times!

I started reading The Pragmatic Programmer: From Journeyman to Master book today and I got caught immediately. My kind of book. Written with an easy language, many examples and practicality in mind. It gives me a feeling that I can use much of what I read and that just makes me want to read more and more and more…

Monza – race

Sunday, September 4th, 2005

Kimi’s left rear tire could unfortunately not take the pressure from his heavy car due to the one-stop strategy they were forced to use because of the changed engine before the qualifying. So the one extra forced pitstop visit ruined the day. A fourth place can usually be quite ok but not when Alonso ended up second.

Firefly

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2005

I’ve finally come around to watching the Firefly tv series everyone has been talking about for god knows how long. However, what I can’t figure out is what makes all the people like it and praise it so much. Alright, it’s pretty good but that’s about it. I don’t get the same feeling watching Firefly as I got watching Farscape. Farscape I got totally into after the first episode and after seeing all the episodes I could get my hands on I waited anxiously every week for a new episode to air in the US.

With Firefly it’s more like I watch an episode after dinner when I have nothing better to do. Not the mad addiction I’ve noticed with other series. So I really wonder what it is that’s so special about it?

Back from the forests of Jyväskylä

Monday, August 8th, 2005

I spent the weekend in Jyväskylä, Finland watching the Neste Rally Finland. Lots of fun was had and we were lucky with the weather even though that meant I got burned by the sun.

It was nice to see old friends again and the rally cars jumping like mad and the beer was a sweet bonus. I’ll put up some photos later when I’ve had time to go through them all, I think I managed to take about a hundred pics without running out of batteries, quite a feat considering both the camera and the batteries are a few years old now. I think an upgrade to at least a 5 megapixel camera is in order soon.
