Sleep deprivation

Before the office moved to Stockholm in the summer I used to get between 7 and 8 hours of sleep each night. Now after the office move I have to commute by train and if I want to get home in a decent time that means taking at least the 7:30 train to Stockholm.

Unfortunately the commute also means that I get home later, and hence if I want to do about the same stuff in the evenings as I did before that means staying up later. That combined with me having to get up earlier to catch the 7:30 train results in me nowadays getting only between 5 and 7 hours of sleep. With, I think, an average of about 6 hours or a bit less.

One result of this constant sleep deprivation that I’ve noticed is my productivity going down at work, especially in the mornings. It usually takes until sometime after lunch before I feel I can start to think coherently for more than a few minutes at a time.

I wonder what other consequences the lack of sleep causes. I bet it’s no good for me at least.
