Yesterday I realized that the keyboard on my 15″ MacBook Pro at work wasn’t working anymore. I have the laptop attached to a bigger screen and I use a usb keyboard and mouse so I had not noticed that the laptop’s keyboard had stopped working.
First I got quite surprised, when I remembered that included with the 10.5.2 update of Leopard which I installed last week where was a Built-In Keyboard Firmware Update.
It was supposed to run automatically after being installed but I thought that it can’t hurt to run it manually again and see if that fixed my problems. The program is installed under Applications->Utilities and after running it the keyboard started working again!
So if you have a non-working keyboard on your MacBook Pro try running the firmware updater before handing in the laptop for service.
