RailsConf 2006

Even though I have just now started to use RubyOnRails I have been trying to keep myself updated on what has been happening in the rails community but somehow RailsConf 2006 slipped through my radar.

Man, that’s going to be one amazing super cool happening but

The main conference will probably be between $350 and $400.

that’s quite steep. In addition to that comes the flight round-trip cost Stockholm-Chicago and the hotel cost. Geee, that ends up being quite expensive.
On the other hand the call for participation is open and

Speakers will receive free admission to the conference and the chance to be part of our industry’s history.

but what would I give a talk about considering I’ve hardly done anything rails related and I completely suck at giving presentations…

Locomotive

Locomotive is

a flexible one-click solution to Ruby on Rails development for Mac OS X 10.3+. In one self-contained application, it gives you a fully functional Rails development platform including: (but not limited to)

  • The framework: Ruby on Rails
  • The favored webserver: lighttpd with FastCGI
  • An embedded database: SQLite

I’m going to get this for my powerbook so I won’t have to do all the development on my server through ssh.

Rails Day 2005 – June 4th

Rails Day 2005 – June 4th

On June 4th, Ruby on Rails developers all over the globe will have 24 hours to build the best application they can.

Coolness, maybe I should try to play with Rails before that so I know how it works. Might make it a bit easier 🙂
