The Quest For Good Coding Music

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

Back at work after a long summer vacation I needed new music to listen to while coding. I’ve realized that if the music is too catchy or with too much lyrics I end up listening to the music instead of working. Which is kind of counterproductive!

So quite soft electronica works quite well.

During my search on Spotify I found Zagar. The Propher Is A Fool is pretty nice coding music. Any good suggestions for similar music?

Spotify Box

Amazing concept by Jordi Parra as his masters degree project. A small box that plays music from Spotify. The music to play is controlled by placing magnetic RFID tags onto the device.

The design is outstanding and I love the physical interaction with the box, that you have to change tag to change album. Brilliant!

Spotify Premium

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

I finally updated to Spotify Premium! Mostly I did it so that I can bring the music and playlists with me when I go running as I just can’t be bothered with buying/downloading mp3 files anymore. That feels so 2009!

Life in technicolor

Strange as it might sound, the deeply odd Mika looks to be heading for superstardom. From Los Angeles to London and beyond, Caspar Llewellyn Smith follows his coat tails.

Spotify launches

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

I got my Spotify beta invite two weeks ago and I fell in love with it immediately. It’s marvelous to have all the music you can think of just a click away.

Today they launched for real! So congratulations are in order. Unfortunately that means the ad-free beta period is at end so I guess I’ll end up with the Premium monthly subscription.

Moneybrother spelar på Katalin i Uppsala ikväll.

Jag hörde när dom soundcheckade på vägen hem från tåget och det lät grymt! Det kommer säkert att bli en makalöst bra konsert. Tyvärr ska jag inte dit :(

Tom McRae and the Hotel Cafe Tour 2008

Friday, May 9th, 2008

Earlier I wrote that I was going to see Tom McRae and the Hotel Cafe Tour 2008 play in Södra Teatern in Stockholm.

The Hotel Cafe Tour

The gig was brilliant! One of the best concerts I have ever been too!

Tom McRae and his friends took turns on the stage playing a couple of songs each, in the end after almost three hours they had played four songs each except for Tom who got to both start the concert, finish it and play in the middle.

They were all good, Jim Bianco was quite funny, Cary Brothers sounded like he does on the TV series, Greg Laswell was limping around on stage, Catherine Feeny was the beauty and light of the set and Brian Wright was the energetic rocker

Tom playing the classic End Of The World News was my personal highlight of the evening. I used my mobile phone to record it and you can watch it below. Enjoy!

I’ve got tickets for this gig tonight. Hopefully it’s going to be a as brilliant and amazing I believe it can be!

See you there!
